A glitch in memory, where the past intersects the present; time and space slip from their anchors; until one forgets their surroundings and drifts beyond the edges of presence.
To illustrate this feeling, both Chinese and Canadian school uniforms are referenced, deconstructed and reconnected. By blending and reconfiguring their distinct characteristics through a graphic, collage-inspired approach, the design explores the collision of memories from past and the present.
Moving from China to Canada in Middle School years, I had to embrace new languages, a new environment and a new culture. Left confused and lost, I was constantly seeking familiarity in strangeness.
